Saudi Arabia has become a “Must-see Destination”
Saudi Arabia has been named the “must-visit destination” of the year, according to Zurab Pololikashvili, secretary-general of the United Nations World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO), at the World Tourism Day inauguration event held in Riyadh this past weekend.
This remarkable honor attests to Saudi Arabia’s relentless pursuit of new horizons, establishing it as the Middle East and African continent’s second-largest beneficiary of foreign direct investment (FDI) projects. The UNWTO’s proud reliance on this prospering nation is very inspirational.
Since 1980, the UNWTO has recognized and celebrated World Tourism Day in September as an opportunity for world leaders to come together and debate the tourism industry’s path. Every year, this ever-expanding industry honors the calendar with the establishment and monitoring of ambitious targets meant to drive its growth. Around 500 distinguished officials from 145 countries gathered at Riyadh’s famous Four Seasons Hotel for this year’s gathering. The symposium’s agenda included very important themes such as sustainability, human welfare, and wealth.
On this World Tourism Day, the UNWTO Secretary-General, Zurab Pololikashvili, decided to reflect on the critical need for putting sustainable investments into a sector that may establish an equilibrium balance for humanity and the world, promising prosperity. He also emphasized the necessity of information transmission and supporting innovation, which may provide the groundwork for significant development and change within the sector, mirroring a worldwide relevance. The rapidly changing tourist scene in Saudi Arabia did not escape the world leader’s observation during this summit. Apart from praising the country for its great goal, the conversations also included climate change, governance, and people empowerment throughout the world.
It is worth noting that Saudi Arabia holds the position of chairman of the UNWTO Executive Council for the year, which is a significant achievement for the country given that Riyadh is the location of the UNWTO’s first regional office in the Middle East. This is not the first time Saudi Arabia has played such an important role. It hosted the 116th event of the UNWTO Executive Council last year, to advance sustainability in all areas, from governance to infrastructure investments and youth.
As previously said, Saudi Arabia has evolved into a welcome protection for travelers from all over the world. The nation provides an unmatched travel experience with its rich history, distinct customs, unmatched natural beauty, and unmatched hospitality. It has transformed into a must-see destination for travelers seeking a mixing blend of history, culture, architecture, landscapes, and gastronomic pleasures.
It is genuinely amazing to see how Saudi Arabia has moved into the world stage, carving out a more substantial position for itself beyond oil and gas. The country appears to be on its way to making a major impression in the world of tourism, and it is this steadfastly forward-thinking mindset that ensures the promise of a profitable future. Saudi Arabia’s remarkable combination of history and modernity today attests to its potential as a global tourist hotspot, further reinforcing its role as a dynamic center for travelers and the UNWTO alike.
